Technology

The 3D Touch mode uses Apple's force touch sensors available on iPhone 6s through iPhone X. The AI Camera mode uses visual reference objects to estimate weight through computer vision analysis.

Data Collection

TouchScale does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. All measurements and history are stored locally on your device using browser localStorage.

Camera Access

The AI Camera mode requests access to your device camera. Camera feed is processed entirely on-device and is never recorded, stored, or transmitted.

We may use anonymous, aggregated analytics to improve the application. No personally identifiable information is collected.

Frequently asked questions about TouchScale.

Which iPhones support 3D Touch?

3D Touch is supported on iPhone 6s, 6s Plus, 7, 7 Plus, 8, 8 Plus, X, Xs, and Xs Max. It is not available on iPhone 11 and newer models.

How accurate is the 3D Touch scale?

The 3D Touch scale can achieve approximately ±1–5g accuracy under ideal conditions. Accuracy depends on device model, screen protector thickness, and measurement technique. It is not suitable for precise commercial or pharmaceutical use.

What is the maximum weight I can measure?

The practical maximum is around 385g for the 3D Touch mode. Heavier objects exceed the force sensor range. For the AI Camera mode, there is no hard limit but accuracy decreases with larger objects.

Does the AI Camera mode require internet?

No. All AI processing happens on your device. No internet connection is required for measurements. Camera images are never sent to any server.

Can I install TouchScale as an app?

Yes! TouchScale is a Progressive Web App (PWA). On Android with Chrome, tap the Install button in the menu. On iOS with Safari, tap Share and then "Add to Home Screen".

How to Use

Two ways to measure — choose the method that works for your device.

3D Touch Scale

Open the 3D Touch Scale mode from the home screen.
Place a small, flat object directly on your phone screen.
Press firmly — the harder you press, the more force is registered.
Use Tare to zero out the scale before adding your item.
Adjust Sensitivity (Light / Medium / Firm) to calibrate for your object.
The reading stabilizes after 3 seconds and is auto-saved to History.

AI Camera Scale

Open the AI Camera mode from the home screen.
Select a reference object you have nearby (coin, battery, card, etc.).
Place the reference object next to the item you want to weigh.
Enable the camera and point it at both objects.
Tap Analyze & Estimate Weight to get an AI estimation.
Results show an estimated weight range with confidence percentage.

Tips for Best Results

Use 3D Touch on a flat, stable surface.
Remove screen protectors if possible for 3D Touch accuracy.
For AI Camera, use good lighting and keep objects on a plain background.
Use the Tare function to subtract the weight of a container.
